Anticipated number of students: 10-15, but may also be less students
Aims: a) improvement of Ss' knowledge of the vocabulary on the subject and
functional language of prohibition, obligation, allowance, advice; revision and
learning new modal auxiliary verbs;
b) getting new information on rules, laws, customs in England
Class description
(anticipated problems): a pre-intermediate
level
group/class between 16-18 (lively teenagers ready and eager to work, with one S
very weak in English and one with a higher level of understanding and speaking;
all of them not very keen on studying grammar). To make it easier and more
interesting for Ss to learn modal verbs, this grammar element is connected with
the topic “Going/Being Abroad”.
Previewed achievements: Ss get to know new vocabulary and can use
modal verbs in given sentences, build own sentences with appropriate
modal verbs, creating their own code of laws/customs/obligations
Methods and techniques: Analysis of the given information
Material and aids: (computer – when work with the Power Point
programme is previewed), blackboard, cards with texts to read and
choose the correct answer (True/False), photocopies with the material
to practice.
