Animals

1. Aims of the lesson:
- vocabulary revision devoted to the names of some common animals
- student will learn how to name the animals and can divide them into the ones living in the land, air and water
- student pronounces the names of animals correctly
Materials – pictures illustrating animals, and their names, ‘Eteacher’ multimedia program
0. Warm-up (3 min.) prepare my students for the lesson, revise the vocabulary from the last lesson
Procedure (7 min): work in groups. Teacher gives each group one envelope containing pictures which illustrate different animals. The students’ task is to select among these animals only one, which lives in the land, water and in the air. Then one representative from each group presents their results to the whole class.

Next, teacher presents to the class the pictures illustrating various animals, speaking their names aloud, e.g.:
This is a lion. This is an elephant.
Students must repeat the names aloud after the teacher.

Pre- practicing (5 min)
- teacher divides students into groups of three and pairs. Each group gets an envelope with a table, which should be completed by them.
- teacher explains what the students are going to do now. He asks them to click on the ‘Eteacher’ icon on the screen and start the program
- teacher explains the rules of the exercise

Practicing (13 min) work with the program
Procedure:
- students start the program, click on the vocabulary test, and choose form the wide range of topics – przyroda
- students start doing their quiz, which is in a multiple choice form. Students look at the pictures and then choose the correct word. If they answer is correct, they get a loud applause and clapping, loud cheers. However, if their answer is wrong, they hear booing and poked fun by the computer. It usually makes the students laugh.
- During the task, teacher circulates around the room to make sure everybody is on task, offering her help and encouragement. Since there are some animals that students are not familiar with, teacher explains their meaning.
- While doing the quiz, students complete the table with the names of animals

Post-practicing (8 min)
Procedure:
- one representative from the group/pair presents the results. The results are checked by every group.
- teacher asks them to put down in their notebooks the new names of animals that occurred in the quiz.
