Topic: Technology inventions – giving opinion

Level: upper –intermediate

Lesson focus: Listening, function and speaking

Lesson aims:

• By the end of the lesson the students will have practised speaking (giving opinions, agreeing, disagreeing) and will have revised some expressions on giving opinions.

• By the end of the lesson the students will have practised listening for detail.

• The students will have some less – restricted oral practice.

• The students will have some reading practice (it time).

Assumptions: The students know expressions connected with giving opinions but they may need some clarification.

Anticipated problems (and planned responses):

• The students may not understand the meaning of “snail mail” – teach them

• The students may not be able to understand all opinions while listening – give them the recording twice
