TELC A2-B1 - Films
Time: 45 minutes
Level: A2 wg CEF (pre-intermediate) adults
Materials: Video Clips: movie trailers
Film projector and notebook
Topic: Best Films
Aim: TELC examination speaking Paper, part 2 – preparation for the examination
Warm-up (2-3 min.): Brainstorming session: What is your favourite film? What film have you
seen recently?
Introduction (5 min.):
1. Ask your students to write as many film types as they know and write three words connected
with each film type. e.g.: comedy: tricks, jokes, laugh, fun
Trailer presentation: (15 min.):
2. Play the videos of five trailers (preferable recent ones or the ones that students haven't seen)
and ask the questions:
• What is the title of the film?
• What kind of a film is it?
• Would you like to see it? Why? Why not?

Vote for the most interesting film (2-3 min.):
3. The voting must be democratic. Write the results on the board. It would probably be a
comedy. Ask why?
Read the text about film making (Bollywood) as an example (15min.):
4. Do the T/F examination task (ask your students to underline the sentences and phrases
which support their answers). See: WORKSHEET
5. Explain the vocabulary which affected their wrong answers.
Follow-up (5 min.):
6. Homework: Prepare a presentation of your favourite film (TELC A2-speaking part 3).
