Podgląd treści

‘The open boat’ by Stephen Crane is in my opinion the precise study of the human’s never ending and deeply rooted belief that whatever wrong is going to happen, it is never destined for us. We are strongly convinced that it is simply impossible to loose everything we hopelessly believe in, values and wealth we struggle for, in one short moment. What is more, we do not even dare to realize that every single day we undertake an enormous effort just to stand closer to the edge of everything.
Detailed, naturalistic descriptions of movements, the ominous scenery of the ocean, the four characters or their thoughts, even more strengthen pointlessness of their struggle and horrifying power of the nature. But no, they do not loose their hope, or they would like to believe they do not loose it. Or, perhaps, they do not want to extort the last rays of promise from comrades. Promise and hope are sometimes more powerful than death. Therefore, are we entitled to reveal the truth?
