SPEAKING

Are you a good liar? Is it easy to tell if you’re lying?

Give examples of ‘white lies’. Do you sometimes tell ‘white lies’? What is your attitude towards them?

Do you think that our society / way of life nowadays influences the amount of lies we produce?

Imagine finding that a very good friend has lied to you about an important issue – How would you feel? What would you do? Would this person still be your friend?

What do you think people mostly lie about?

If you thought someone’s boyfriend or girlfriend was cheating on them, would you tell your friend bluntly, find a more diplomatic way of telling them, or just say nothing?

Did you ever lie to your parents and get away with it?

Have you ever spread a rumour (about someone famous or someone you know) that turned out to be false?

What circumstances do you think it is and isn’t acceptable to use lie detectors?
